Well, I tried googling, but my keywords kept leading me to unrelated topics...

My computer recommended updating my HDAudio drivers and, despite nothing being wrong with my audio, I figured it couldn't hurt...well, that lead to some problems and I rolled everything back and it seemed to be working fine again. However, when I go from headphones to speakers, the speakers won't take over control of the sounds from any programs I had open with the headphones. Headphones will always take over from the speakers, though. Anyone know what I might have done to cause this and how to undo it?

Have you got your speakers set to default device?

Rightclick on the volume icon at the bottom right of the screen then select playback devices and set your speakers to default device.

Ive had a similar problem, but its almost a once off thing (I ended up with minecraft from my speakers, and music through my headphones.) Since then Ive changed my setup a little so that the headphones and speakers work on the same output from the pc. If you have a setup from which you can do that, then Id suggest doing it

I don't completely remember what my problem was, but what I do remember was that it had something to do with an NVIDA setting somewhere. Would you mind screen-shotting the NVIDA application pages?

If you did, I might be able to see what's different between yours and mine and find the problem that way.

I have the NVIDIA Control Panel, which only has audio options while using an HDMI cable, and I have the GeForce experience application which is graphics only.

Could it be the "Exclusive Mode" settings for the headphones and speakers?

also, there is an "VIA HD Adio Deck" application, but it just opens the control pannel sounds interface
