I noticed the other day that I sent a Private Message to someone, then realized that something was not right. I tried to change it, but there was no edit button there, just a Report Button.

So it might help to add "Delete" and "Edit" to PMs.

Thanks. :)

There actually is in the first 5 minutes orso. (For me atleast, though I think it's there too for nonmods) So if you notice something is wrong, you can change it, but not change the whole information itself after the person has read it. I don't know the exact amount of time, but it happens because it could cause confusion otherwise.

There isn't.
The timed thing only works for people who don't have full edit permissions on their post. Basically, if you don't have that permission, you can only edit your post in the first like 5 hours.
However, you can't edit your PM, ever.

Mods and ops do have limited edit abilities for conversations my reasonings for not including everyone else is so that should they want to retract their comments they can't so there is a full log of conversations for mods and ops.

Since the PM system does not contribute to post count, most forums don't bother adding in the edit feature to them at all. Editing existing text is a rather server-memmory hungry process because you have to fetch the entire coversation (assuming that it is a single file per conversation), store it in memory, find a specific section of it, send it to the editing form, then replace just the desired text (easiest way would have been to explode the file contents to a nested array, replace just the desired portion, then implode the array with the same section indicators used to explode the file), and finally completly overwrite the original file. The effort makes sense when it prevents an excuse from someone spamming for post count, but for a pm system it is just a lot easier to append the end of the file with a correction post.

But when someone deletes a post, aren't admins/mods still able to view it? I remember being able to see that on my phone, but I can't remember on my computer.

Editing the post is a different story.

Yes, ops and maybe mods (chillers would need to answer that part) can still read posts that were deleted by the poster in the thread. Handy little feature in my opinion.

I can confirm mods can read deleted posts, useful and in some situations quite funny :p Mods also have the ability to edit other peoples posts in most sections as well
