To be fair i haven't played in years but i played with the best in the UK when i was competing. I used to be super good with a scout. I doubt i'm nothing like what i was.

I also recommend Tabletop Simulator.

I don't personally own it but it looks like much fun.

I am half tempted to buy a four pack of it and use a competition to give out three of them.

Is clash of clans another one of thos "you can play for free, but if you don't pay for stuff you might as well not" games (like Tribal Wars)?

From what I've seen, it is. But come on sren, name a game like that which doesn't require purchases in order to progress :p

Zath, that is specifically why I don't play those games. Instead of actualy doing microtransactions correctly (which I honestly believe World of War Games has done very well with World of Tanks), they force you into a situation where you either have to spend money on a game that is advertised as free, or quit all together. Micro transactions should both live up to the name, and and have little to no impact on game play. It's like that dating app that got into legal trouble recently. They advertised as a free app, then told users after a certain amount of time, "oh, that was just the trial period. You have to pay us for the full version app."

Every smartphone game is that.

And those that are not are way too fucken expensive for being smartphone games.

There are plenty of high-quality, free mobile games that are free of IAPs. However business unfortunately outweighs the importance of artistic vision and user-enjoyment with a lot of the main app devs and so it's mainly indie games that are completely free.

I fear we're straying slightly off topic :p

Okay, to try to move back to topic, let's find out what types of games people enjoy that would support a community "clan" of sorts.

Personally, I have always enjoyed RTS games, even when I am bad at them. Obviously MMO's are an option (Runescape was my guilty addiction for MMO's, and I'm sure there are a few WoW players here), counterstrike has been mentioned, then there are older games that still have semi-active communities around them (Doom for example)

If we're looking for a game to involve as many people as possible in, it's probably best to steer away from paid games like WoW. As mentioned before, something with a more casual and easy-to-approach feel like TF2 is probably more sensible as not only is it F2P it's also beginner-friendly and very inclusive.

Anything free or anything a lot of people already have anyway would work for that end goal. If we wanted something we could hang out in without feeling like we have to do something, URU online is an option. It is free, and Cyan does work on it now and then.
