Hey gang,

For those who haven't heard of the servers token wiener-dog, I used to be very active on the server to the point where I had earned the status of 'Moderator'. Real life proceeded to hit me harder than Shia LeBouf's acting career hit the pavement and loaded me on with work, responsibilities, and a bunch of boring grow-up-y stuff that I just don't really care for (but also some stuff I do). I came back here to express my gratitude and admiration to a place I did a lot of growing up in.

I know I haven't been anywhere close to regularly active on the server, but I have been lurking every now and then here on the forums. I just wanted to say that I am so proud that Minr has stayed together as a community, and that people leaving/joining has not affected spirits to the extent of preventing fun from being had. You guys were my original online home, and I couldn't really be happier to say it than I am now! This community is filled with amazing people who do amazing things, and I really am disappointed that there aren't more hours in the day that I could spend with you guys, but life tends to work that way.

Things that have been going on in my life to keep y'all updated:

• Probably the biggest news - I'm off to college this fall! I'll be headed to Carnegie Mellon University. Super excited, but also a little scared. Any tips from current college-goers/veterans would be greatly appreciated.
• My baseball team played at Yankee stadium! Baseball became a substantially larger part of my life recently, and ate up much of the time I normally spent playing video games.
• I finished my huge research project on a study of gamma-ray emitting blazars! (If that sounds a little like jibberish, I stared at stars and drooled a little bit for 10 months of my life and wrote a huge paper).
• I work at a Cheese shop! Let me know if anyone needs some suggestions for cheeses/charcuterie, I'm quite the source for all your dairy needs.

Minr, stay the way you are. Keep being goofy, keep holding community events (obligatory mafia shout out [is this the 14th game?!]), and keep being a great place to come back to day in and day out. You guys have provided me with countless smiles, chuckles, jaw-drops, and oh-my-gods, and I hope it continues. Hot dog out.

Hey flarsh, can I ask, where is the college you are going to? Here is a few college tips


Get a planner most teachers will not tell you when something is due

Get air fresheners because that dorm is gonna stink

Always change in the bathroom you never know who is gonna watch

Never drink because that will lead to bad habits and relationships

Never have sex until you are marriage or are both ready that way you can start the relationships on the right foot

Go to church that way you can seek help, consoling and it keeps God in your life

Take a few basic cleaners to clean the bathroom if you have a shared bathroom in your dorm room

Take fans the freshman dorms don't usually have ac in colleges in the U.S.

Make friends there it will be fun for everyone

Get to know a few of the upperclass men they can help you

Apply for scholarships

Give yourself a reason to live everyday remember suicide is never the answer for anything

Keep a good attitude

Hopefully this will give you a starting point flarsh and yes I still remember you and your block bubbles like you I am not on the server but on the forums I am active. If you need more I can send them to you.

If you still don't like the advice, talk to some friends who are or have gone through college


Here is a very important piece of advice, ask some of the class men on how the books work. Some professors will charge you again to have you get their new edition for the next semester. And they will not go back to that edition for the semester.

Also, ask questions to make sure you get the information, if you don't get a tutor. Most professors will do something new for everyday.

Congrats, this tip may be 25 years old but I still think it holds true. Get yourself a sandwich maker, it got me through times whem the cupboards were a little bare. Almost anything heated up between bread can be a meal.

Ok, if you don't have bread, ramen is the next easiest idiot proofed meal on the market that can be located almost anywhere.

My one piece of advice for anyone starting out in college: find the short-cuts around campus!

My number two piece of advice: don't be afraid to go to office hours so your professors know you! I had a math test where I didn't realize it was printed on both sides of the paper, and was able to get it re-graded to account for it because the professor knew who I was.

Its still advice, and as some people see it, good advice. We cant ask him not to share it just because we may not agree with some of it. To do so would be like asking someone not to share their beliefs, to do so would be to impose our beliefs on them, and do the same thing we are asking them not to do.

Jag, that's a bit of false reasoning. Telling someone not to share their beliefs is not the same as imposing ours, especially if we make it clear that we won't share our beliefs as well. But I'd also like to add that I highly doubt nahfackler has been in college yet himself. I'm not saying he hasn't visited campus, I'm not saying his family or friends haven't told anything, but most of what he said sounds secondhand. If this is true nahfackler, perhaps you should let the experienced do more of the talking. Trust me, some of your views are going to change once you get into college and live there for a while, myself included. I think that's the more important info flarsh can get out of it, instead of the standard info and stereotypes that he most likely knows anyways. And I do thank you for your participation, some of your things are helpful, and others are encouraging, but I doubt your info is as useful as you think it is.
