There was actually a lot of hype about this, Notch announced that there was an easter egg in one of his updates and people spent ages trying to find some super sneaky thing hidden in the game mechanics or AI, but in all reality it was just Minceraft :p

Before everything in Minecraft, there was a bedrock planet.
Inside it, there was an ice cold gas that made it unlivable.
The planet was lifeless, only it was the centre of a solar system with a sun and moon.
One day, a solar flare from the sun sent lava down towards the planet.
Over time, the magma was cooled by the gas to become stone, but tiny bits of lava stayed low in the ground to form lava pools.
Since of carbon dioxide, it was put under the extreme heat of magma remaining to form diamonds.
Then, a comet came and created a meteor, plunging gold precipitate into the Earth forming into gold.
As more stone started to surround the planet, it's variants andesite, diorite and granite were made.
Hematite from the comet at this time started to go into the layers, but were cooled by the infinite gas under the bedrock.
Bit and pieces of rock and nutrients started to hold together to form the dirt on the surface, and soon, the first plant was made from stardust.
The plant then repopulated, the seeds released then adapted to the soil development, creating 6 different trees.
The vaporised ground from the magma finally then acidified, creating small bits of water the plants used.
The trees spread out the vast land, covering all the places they could cover.
Soon, a mutation from the acid rainstorms made the newborns grow strange. They converted into animals like pigs and cows.
The animals then developed traits like standing on two feet, making the first humans pig-like ancestors.
The humans over time turned into villagers, who started to make colonies by cutting down trees, but being careful of recourses and repopulation.
Villagers soon discovered the riches of the ground one day as they saw emeralds in the grounds, and decided to mine, creating abandoned mine shafts we see today.
They then stopped, as they realised they had enough, then grew the plants that existed in the area; wheats, potatoes, cocoa and carrots.
Then, you were born, raised and left to start a new world. But what will YOU make of it?
