I can't list the amount of whites I've had to show around because they got lost at spawn. I'd simply suggest having the ffa and ffa+ signs right next to where you spawn. This would make it a heck of alot easier for new players.

I also think that finding ffa and ffa+ should be easier. I also think that there should be a teleporter to the faq and the faq quiz because some players don't go there so they might not know that the faq exists.

The spawn is too overwhelming, even if you put a sign in a new player's face, there is no guarantee that they will read it.
I think we should just straight up change spawns (we have had this one for ~8 months now, it is probably time for a change).

For greens that don't know: /warp spawn will take you to all of the spawns we have used in the past (and note how much easier it is to find the FFA and FFA+ in those than now).

But the problem was also present in the other spawns, which leads me to believe it's the multiple steps that do it.
We are aware, and have been thinking about some sort of fix, but have come up empty handed so far for a win/win solution. We have however takrn some small steps to help mitigate this problem, and to some extent they were successful.
Regardless of spawn we will keep people that rather ask for help than read / take in the context, and I'm thankful to know there are greenies who are willing to show them around.
There are some things we can improve, but haven't had the time to do so yet.

Another solution is that we get a plugin (if we don't already have it) where you right click an item and a little inventory like a chest pops up with items inside, one labelled FFA and one labelled FFA+. Click on one and you get teleported. If the item is named "Map teleporter" then this situation could be resolved. It's an easy fix.

That's not going to happen, most probably, since that would make the entire purpose of FFA and FFA+ areas obsolete. We have played with the idea to be able to skip spawn completely, and end up at the FFA(+) area. As far as I know there's proper discussion on this topic going on lately still.

Always thought this would be a great idea. Whities don't care about rules or anything, might as well shuffle them right to the maps immediately and then let them search around spawn later. There's no rules that aren't common sense except don't ask for answers that they really need to know before their first map imo. They can learn about ranks later.

There's probably an important rule I'm forgetting, but either way.

I don't like that idea for one simple reason: It creates problems for survival play. If you start making items have different functions, you severely limit how people are able to play on the server.

No matter what solution we go with, we NEED to have written rules. Why? Because it removes any chance a player has to say, "I didn't know that was a rule." If they failed to read the rules, that is their fault, and ignorance is no excuse. If we failed to make the rules readily available, that is our fault, and it makes our enforcement questionable.

As to the idea of whites not knowing where to go, that will always be the case. No matter how simple of a spawn we have used, we have had players join who were too lazy to use common sense and just start asking to be spoon-fed all the information. Personally, I am very much against enabling this behavior. If you are not willing to take the time to figure out how to get to the courses (which in most iterations of spawn has been very easy), then you more than likely will not be on the server for very long anyway.

I see a lot of "x joined for the first time!" 5 minutes later, "x left the game." We need to make the spawn simpler. Have a sign pop up on your screen in big letters; "Welcome to Minr!" Read the rules below. Or even just say "Maps to the left!" something needs to change.

I think another reason why new players are confused with this current spawn is because it says "Parkour, Mazes and Puzzles straight ahead!", and straight ahead is the ship instead of the portal. I've seen many, many whites exploring the ship trying to find the maps and had to show them to the portal.

It may seem somewhat obvious as the portal is big and it somewhat stands out, but when I first saw this spawn, I tried looking on the ship for maps before noticing there was a portal to the left.

Another note, we have the 'Quick warp' pressure plates that are in a very inconvenient place, if you ask me, I believe it says something along the lines of 'MAPS HERE'. I've never ever seen anyone use these things (they teleport you straight to the portal). Maybe we can try making these more clear, having new players spawn with these plates/signs straight in front of them?

Apart from that, I do agree with the general idea of 'if you don't want to put any effort into finding out where to go (even though it's not the most straightforward, I do agree on that you'd probably not last on this server for a long time.

Perhaps you can move the maps section to the mushroom area, whilst this wasn't how it was built that area is very straightforward and there is no real deviation from the pathway.

Maybe we should switch back to an older spawn for a while. One that isn't as grandiose might eliminate some of the wandering. The signs might need updating, but that shouldn't be too time consuming.

Creepa spawn was runner up in the comp, we could always use his temporarily.

If we were to do that i'd personally like to eliminate any warp to FFA+ at spawn entirely and put it on the FFA ship
