I can't list the amount of whites I've had to show around because they got lost at spawn. I'd simply suggest having the ffa and ffa+ signs right next to where you spawn. This would make it a heck of alot easier for new players.
Who are we?
We are minecrafts 3rd oldest server and the oldest challenge and parkour dedicated server in the world. Our map dates over 7.5 years and our server has had an uptime of 99%. We have over 250 challenges which will keep you occupied for months. All of our challenges have been created by our member base who have completed our hardcore maps. You yourself could one day be creating a challenge for our server if you ever achieve the green membership rank. For more information about zero.minr.org click here...

That's not going to happen, most probably, since that would make the entire purpose of FFA and FFA+ areas obsolete. We have played with the idea to be able to skip spawn completely, and end up at the FFA(+) area. As far as I know there's proper discussion on this topic going on lately still.Another solution is that we get a plugin (if we don't already have it) where you right click an item and a little inventory like a chest pops up with items inside, one labelled FFA and one labelled FFA+. Click on one and you get teleported. If the item is named "Map teleporter" then this situation could be resolved. It's an easy fix.
Always thought this would be a great idea. Whities don't care about rules or anything, might as well shuffle them right to the maps immediately and then let them search around spawn later. There's no rules that aren't common sense except don't ask for answers that they really need to know before their first map imo. They can learn about ranks later. We have played with the idea to be able to skip spawn completely, and end up at the FFA(+) area.
I see a lot of "x joined for the first time!" 5 minutes later, "x left the game." We need to make the spawn simpler. Have a sign pop up on your screen in big letters; "Welcome to Minr!" Read the rules below. Or even just say "Maps to the left!" something needs to change.I don't like that idea for one simple reason: It creates problems for survival play. If you start making items have different functions, you severely limit how people are able to play on the server.
No matter what solution we go with, we NEED to have written rules. Why? Because it removes any chance a player has to say, "I didn't know that was a rule." If they failed to read the rules, that is their fault, and ignorance is no excuse. If we failed to make the rules readily available, that is our fault, and it makes our enforcement questionable.
As to the idea of whites not knowing where to go, that will always be the case. No matter how simple of a spawn we have used, we have had players join who were too lazy to use common sense and just start asking to be spoon-fed all the information. Personally, I am very much against enabling this behavior. If you are not willing to take the time to figure out how to get to the courses (which in most iterations of spawn has been very easy), then you more than likely will not be on the server for very long anyway.
